What you'll be doing

This is a 12 month, four term rotational position within the Coastal Network Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO)
program, with rotations in Anaesthetics, ICU and ED. The Anaesthetic rotations are based at South East Regional
Hospital Bega and at Moruya Hospital and include a component of time in rural practice, with supervision from a rural
generalist. The trainee will be part of a departmental roster providing experience for JMOs wishing to develop a baseline
practical skillset for the management of patients in the acute inpatient and GP setting.

This position would suit trainees considering a career in rural general practice as a Rural Generalist, and in the acute
care specialties of ED, Intensive Care, and Anaesthesia. Trainees will be given responsibilities and opportunities for
autonomous practice commensurate with their experience. This will be accompanied by appropriate supervision, training
and support to enable development of relevant skills during the training year.





Our program begins with a comprehensive orientation designed to familiarise you with our hospital's operations,
culture, and will ensure a baseline level of competency at core skills required for the position. You will benefit from the
weekly training program during the year, which will include hands-on clinical experiences, simulation-based education,
interactive workshops, and integration into our multidisciplinary teams. The teaching program will be complemented by
ongoing mentorship from experienced senior medical staff, ensuring you receive personalised guidance and support.
Accommodation is provided for the full 12 months of the program and there is a small travel allowance available.

The Rural Critical Care SRMOs work and learn alongside our Rural Child and Maternal Health SRMOs in a single
program at SERH. If you are interested in both positions please concurrently apply for position CAM30301. Applicants
who apply for both positions will have the opportunity to submit preferences at the time of interview.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.

- Must have completed at least two postgraduate years training including a minimum 12-months experience in an Australian Public Hospital or equivalent (not as an Observer).

- Evidence of satisfactory completion of at least 2 JMO terms within an acute care setting, or demonstrated equivalent experience, within the last 12 months.





- Demonstrated interest and willingness to live and work in rural or regional communities. Applicants should provide examples of previous experience or personal motivation to contribute to healthcare in non-metropolitan areas.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery, and coordination of patient care.

- Excellent clinical knowledge, skills, and team work, with demonstrated ability to work both independently within a supervised complex clinical environment and as part of a multidisciplinary team

- Ability to recognise the acutely unwell patient and to initiate immediate management and institute Advanced Life Support, with a current ALS2 or equivalent qualification.

- Advanced organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment. Valid Working with Children Check and cleared National Police Check.

employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of
