This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Policy Officer to join the Cabinet stream within the Cabinet and Parliamentary Services Team. This fast-paced and dynamic team is the heart of the Portfolio Policy and Cabinet Division within the Department of Customer Service.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Policy Officer with a focus on Cabinet who will contribute to complex projects, deliver strategic outcomes and inspire our team.
You will be joining a friendly and supportive team passionate about providing accurate and timely Cabinet services and strategic policy advice for the Department.

In this role you will:
- Be part of a team providing high level advice and support to the executives, Secretary and the Ministers
- Contribute to delivery of Cabinet outcomes and ensure delivery of high quality coordination, analysis and advice
- Provide corporate support in the development and delivery of broader policy or project initiatives
- Help train Departmental staff in understanding the Cabinet context and processes
- Guide and mentor others in the team, help to ensure a strongly cohesive and collaborative team culture.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to provide accurate, clear and comprehensive advice in short time frames
- Proven experience liaising and consulting with internal and external stakeholders on complex and sensitive issues, including with Ministerial Offices and Senior Executives
- Ideally, experience with Cabinet services, previous experience working in policy development and analysis is also valued
- Ability to think strategically, supported by highly tuned review and analysis skills to develop and implement practical solutions to complex matters
- High attention to detail, well-developed organisational skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a high-pressure, high-volume environment with tight deadlines to manage rapidly changing priorities and conflicting perspectives
- Passion, enthusiasm, resilience, and energy to thrive in an agile and adaptive environment
- A solid understanding of how government works or experience interpreting/implementing policies that support Government agencies.
