As our Western Australian operations continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Primary Products Quality Assurance Officer to join our processing team.
About the Role - Primary Products Quality Assurance Officer
Reporting to the WA Operations Manager, you will play an important role in maintaining UniFresh's quality assurance program across all stages of receiving, processing, packing and dispatch of fresh vegetables. Working closely with local suppliers and production staff, you will ensure products consistently meet customer specifications, food safety requirements and company quality standards.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Monitor and implement quality assurance procedures throughout receiving, washing, cutting,
packing, storage and dispatch operations.
- Inspect incoming fresh vegetables to verify compliance with company quality standards and customer specifications before production.
- Assess fresh produce for quality, freshness, maturity, grading, defects, spoilage, contamination and foreign matter.
- Collect product samples and perform routine quality checks during processing to verify compliance with food safety and customer requirements.
- Monitor hygiene, sanitation and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) throughout production and packing operations.
- Maintain accurate quality assurance documentation, inspection records, product testing results and non-conformance reports.
- Investigate quality issues, identify root causes and assist in implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Conduct supplier quality assessments and participate in supplier visits to verify compliance with UniFresh's quality and food safety requirements.
- Provide guidance to suppliers and production staff regarding product quality, grading standards, handling procedures and continuous quality improvement.
- Participate in internal quality audits, customer audits and verification activities to ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety and company quality management systems.
- Verify finished products are correctly graded, packed, labelled and stored prior to dispatch.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce waste and improve operational efficiency.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, Food Technology, Agriculture, Horticulture or a related discipline.
- At least one year of relevant experience in quality assurance, food production, fresh produce processing or a similar food manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety legislation and quality assurance systems.
- Experience conducting product inspections, quality verification and quality assessments within a food processing or fresh produce setting.
- Ability to monitor quality assurance procedures and maintain accurate quality records and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with suppliers, production teams and other stakeholders.
- Current Australian Driver License.
