About the role

The Pharmacist Intern position within Community & Oral Health provides pharmacy graduates with the opportunity to develop the professional knowledge, skills and experience required to achieve general registration as a pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia. Working under the supervision of Registered Pharmacists, the role supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred pharmacy services across a variety of clinical settings, including sub-acute inpatient wards, virtual care and community-based services.

The successful candidate will gain broad exposure to the Transitions of Care environment while working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams across multiple Community & Oral Health sites. The role includes participation in clinical pharmacy activities, patient education, medication management, quality improvement projects and professional development programs, providing a strong foundation for a rewarding pharmacy career within Queensland Health.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

Deliver pharmacy services under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, including medication assessment, dispensing, counselling and medication management activities.
Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support safe, effective and patient-centred care across community, virtual and inpatient settings.
Manage clinical and non-clinical responsibilities effectively while maintaining accurate documentation, patient records and service statistics.




Participate in education, professional development, quality improvement and research activities to enhance pharmacy practice and patient outcomes.
Utilise strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with patients, carers, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders in a professional and compassionate manner.
