We are seeking a passionate, reliable, and organised Centre Cook to join our dedicated team at Children’s Village. This is a key role supporting children’s health, wellbeing, and development through nutritious, safe, and inclusive meals.

About the Role

The Centre Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving healthy meals and snacks for children aged 0–6 years. This includes catering for allergies, dietary requirements, and cultural needs, while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

You will contribute to a positive mealtime environment that promotes healthy eating habits and aligns with the National Quality Framework (NQF) and service philosophy.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks in line with the weekly menu
- Ensure all dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural needs are safely met
- Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and allergen management practices
- Manage food ordering, stock control, and kitchen budgets
- Maintain a clean, protected, and organised kitchen environment
- Collaborate with educators to support positive mealtime experiences
- Ensure compliance with the National Quality Standards and Child Safe Standards

Essential Requirements

Applicants must hold or be willing to obtain the following:





- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (mandatory)
- Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- National Police Check (clearance required)
- Completion of Child Safe Standards training (Gecko Training or equivalent approved platform)
- Understanding of early childhood food safety regulations and allergen management

About You

- Experience in cooking within early childhood, aged care, or large-scale catering (preferred)
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
- Organised, reliable, and able to work independently
- Passion for healthy food and children’s wellbeing
- Positive, flexible, and child-focused approach
