SPAR Express Clayfield is a neighbourhood convenience supermarket operating under the globally recognised SPAR banner, serving the local Clayfield community seven days a week from its Sandgate Road store. Our store is part of SPAR Australia Limited, an unlisted public company founded by independent retailers and formally established under the SPAR name in 2006. SPAR Australia is the Australian licence holder for the SPAR supermarket brand and today supplies groceries, marketing and retail support to around 300 independent supermarkets across Queensland, New South Wales, the ACT, the Northern Territory and the Pacific Islands. Its national operations are anchored by a large, technology-enabled distribution centre at Acacia Ridge in Brisbane, carrying thousands of dry, chilled and frozen grocery lines. Key Responsibilities

- Plan and manage the store's product range, deciding on the mix of grocery, fresh, chilled and everyday convenience lines that best suits our Clayfield customers, and setting the inventory and service standards that keep shelves full and shoppers happy.
- Develop and roll out purchasing and merchandising approaches that make the most of SPAR's national buying programs, negotiate with suppliers where appropriate,



and set competitive retail prices that balance value for customers with healthy store margins.
- Prepare and manage the store's operating budget, set sales and expense targets, and keep spending, wage costs and stock investment in line with financial goals.
- Plan and run local promotional and advertising activity activating SPAR catalogue campaigns, in-store specials, signage and community initiatives to grow foot traffic, basket size and brand awareness in the local area.
- Lead front-line customer service by example, assisting shoppers at the point of sale, resolving queries, and sharing product knowledge and usage advice to help customers find what they need and encourage repeat business.
- Recruit, roster, train, coach and supervise store team members, building a motivated and capable team and ensuring everyone delivers consistent, friendly service.
- Maintain accurate records of stock levels, deliveries, wastage and daily financial transactions, and reconcile takings and banking to keep store reporting reliable and up to date.
- Champion a safe, clean and compliant store by upholding workplace health and safety, food-safety and hygiene requirements and ensuring the team follows all relevant regulations and store procedures.
- Oversee stock ordering,



receiving and rotation to minimise out-of-stocks and reduce shrinkage and spoilage across the store.
- Monitor daily and weekly trading results, identify opportunities to improve performance, and put practical plans in place to lift sales and efficiency.
- Work in partnership with SPAR field and support teams to implement network standards, systems and marketing programs at store level.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

- An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in a retail, supermarket or convenience environment.

What We Offer

- Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 plus superannuation per annum
- Hours: Full-time position, typically 38 hours per week
