Job description – Nurseryperson
Plant Cultivation and Maintenance
- Propagate, plant, and transplant seedlings and mature plants.
- Maintain the health of plants using appropriate techniques.
- Water, fertilise, and manage pest control for all plant stock.
Nursery Operations
- Monitor and manage growing environments, including temperature, humidity, and light.
- Operate and maintain irrigation systems.
- Prepare plants for sale or distribution by packaging and labelling appropriately.
Inventory and Stock Management
- Maintain accurate records of plant stock, growth cycles, and health issues.
- Inspect incoming stock and materials for quality assurance.
Health and Safety
- Ensure compliance with safety standards in the nursery.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and machinery in a secure and operational condition.
Customer Service and Engagement
- Provide advice to customers on plant care and maintenance.
- Assist in responding to customer inquiries or resolving concerns about nursery products.
Requirement:
- AQF Certificate III, including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
- At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
