Nijumaru Japanese Restaurant is a well-established Japanese dining destination committed to delivering authentic Japanese cuisine and exceptional customer service. We are passionate about using fresh, high-quality ingredients and providing an outstanding dining experience for our customers.

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Chef to join our professional kitchen team on a full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities:

· Prepare and cook a wide variety of Japanese dishes to a consistently high standard, ensuring authenticity, quality, and presentation.

· Assist in planning menus and estimate food, labour, and operating costs to support efficient kitchen operations.

· Ensure food quality, presentation, and portion control consistently meet restaurant standards.

· Supervise, train, and mentor junior kitchen staff and apprentices, providing guidance on food preparation, cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen procedures.

· Coordinate daily kitchen operations and allocate tasks to ensure efficient workflow during service.

· Monitor food stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory management to maintain adequate supplies.

· Maintain food safety, hygiene,



and sanitation standards in accordance with Australian food safety regulations.

· Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure the timely preparation and service of customer orders.

· Receive and inspect food deliveries to ensure quality, freshness, and compliance with purchasing specifications.

· Minimise food waste and implement cost-effective kitchen practices while maintaining food quality.

· Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and operated safely in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.

Skills and Experience:

The successful applicant should have:

· Diploma of Hospitality Management or equivalent.

· A minimum of two (2) years of work experience preparing authentic Japanese cuisine.

· Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices.

· Ability to work efficiently in a rapid-paced environment.

· Excellent organisational and time management skills.

· Strong teamwork and communication skills.

· Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
