Primary objective
Provide leadership and expert advice to strategically procure, catalogue, curate, manage and promote access to a diverse
collection of geoscientific reports and datasets, maps and academic publications to build knowledge of the geology and
resource potential of the Northern Territory

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead and manage a small team and collaborate with other Information Services team members in managing a diverse range

of geoscientific collections and materials
2. Oversee and promote access to physical and digital library collections, ensuring effective service delivery through online

platforms and research databases
3.



Support senior leadership in enhancing library systems through the implementation of contemporary digital solutions,

improving accessibility and discoverability of information resources
4. Lead and manage strategic and operational projects, including procurement and contract management, ensuring delivery

against agreed milestones and objectives
5. Monitor industry trends and best practices to inform continuous improvement, including the adoption of emerging

technologies, standards, and formats
6. Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery
7. Prepare high-level reports and documentation to support corporate and strategic decision-making

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Tertiary qualification in library and information science and/or eligibility for Associate Membership of the Australian Library

and Information Association (ALIA).
2. Demonstrated analytical, research and problem-solving skills, preferably with a scientific background.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of current issues and trends in collection development technologies and practices.
4. Proven leadership and management experience, including the ability to set explicit performance standards, manage and

develop teams to achieve operational and organisational objectives
5. Proven experience of information management systems, including the capacity to leverage potential innovative

technological solutions to problem solve and introduce improved business processes.
6. Experience and understanding of client needs in relation to accessing information and provision of effective services and

online systems
7. Demonstrated ability and knowledge of project management practices and principles and in change management.
8. Highly developed written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across all

levels of an organisation.
