Custom Clad is a specialist façade and cladding subcontractor delivering architectural building envelope solutions across commercial, residential and institutional projects. We are seeking a full-time Structural Engineer (ANZSCO 233214) to join our engineering team.
Key tasks and duties
- Determine the structural design methods and materials to be used in façade, cladding and framing systems, and provide specifications for their construction.
- Prepare and interpret engineering sketches, drawings, plans and specifications for building envelope elements and support structures.
- Analyse and assess the behaviour of structural systems and components under load, including wind, dead and live loading, to ensure structural integrity and compliance with the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards.
- Perform structural calculations and design checks for cladding substrates, subframes, brackets and fixings, and provide certification input where required.
- Provide technical advice on structural and engineering matters to project managers, estimators, site teams and clients.
- Coordinate with architects, builders, building surveyors and consultants to resolve design and buildability issues.
- Conduct site inspections and investigate structural failures or defects, and prepare reports on findings and remedial recommendations.
- Organise and direct site labour and delivery of materials, plant and equipment in relation to engineered structural elements.
- Ensure engineering work complies with Australian Standards, workplace health and safety requirements and quality assurance procedures.
Skills and experience
- Bachelor or Master degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (AQF Level 7 or higher).
- Positive skills assessment from Engineers Australia (or eligibility to obtain one).
- Sound knowledge of the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards, including AS/NZS 1170 and AS 4100.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software and AutoCAD or Revit.
- Robust written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary project team.
