Position Information

Albury West Public School currently serves 164 students, including 37 Aboriginal students. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment where every student and family feels valued, connected and supported.

The school promotes a solid culture of collaboration among all staff, working collectively to maintain high expectations for student achievement, engagement and wellbeing. A key focus of our school is the delivery of high-quality explicit teaching practices and evidence-based student engagement initiatives, including Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL).

Through our PBL framework, we take a proactive approach to supporting positive behaviour by explicitly teaching and reinforcing behavioural expectations across all school settings. Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary

Demonstrated expertise in supporting students with additional learning and support needs within mainstream classrooms, including providing specialist advice and assistance to teachers to improve curriculum access and participation

Proven ability to lead and embed inclusive,



evidence-based practices that enhance learning, engagement and wellbeing outcomes for students with diverse learning needs

Strong understanding of disability legislation, NCCD requirements, assessment adjustments, NSW Department of Education policies and inclusive education frameworks, with experience supporting students with disability and complex behavioural needs

Demonstrated capacity to collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, families and external agencies to build staff capability and implement personalised learning and behaviour supports through robust communication, consultation and data-informed practices

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
