iCake is looking for an experienced Fresh Cream Cake Decorator to join our Oakleigh kitchen (Shop 2/10A Atherton Road). This is a hands-on production role for someone who works quickly, maintains consistent quality, takes ownership of their work and pays close attention to every order detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Fill, layer, stack, mask/frost and finish fresh-cream cakes to a smooth, clean and consistent standard.
- Pipe borders, lettering and simple decorations, and finish cakes with fruit, chocolate and other toppings according to order specifications.
- Follow daily production lists and complete orders accurately and on time in a busy cake kitchen.
- Check cake size, colour, wording, design notes and presentation before each order leaves production.
- Prepare cream, fillings and basic cake components as required.
- Keep the work area clean and organised and follow all food safety and hygiene standards.
- Produce customised cakes when skills allow. Custom cake experience is highly regarded but is not essential.
About You
- Previous commercial cake decorating or cake-making experience.
- Confident with fresh-cream masking/frosting and able to achieve a smooth finish independently.
- Rapid and consistent without compromising presentation or accuracy.
- Reliable,
proactive and responsible, with steady productivity throughout the shift.
- Strong attention to detail and able to follow written orders and design specifications.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production kitchen and as part of a team.
- Current Australian working rights are preferred.
- A portfolio or clear photos of previous cake work are strongly preferred.
Pay and Benefits
- A$34–A$40 per hour plus super, depending on experience and demonstrated skill.
- Applicable penalty rates paid in accordance with the relevant Award.
