About the role

The Social Worker provides high-level psychosocial support services within the Surgical Services Clinical Program at The Prince Charles Hospital. As a member of the Cancer Care, Critical Care, Surgery and Palliative Care team, the role supports patients and their families through the delivery of evidence-based social work interventions that optimise psychosocial wellbeing and health outcomes throughout the patient journey.

The successful candidate will undertake comprehensive psychosocial assessments, deliver clinical interventions, provide advocacy and support, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to address complex patient needs. The role also contributes to service development, education, quality improvement and research activities that enhance the delivery of social work and healthcare services.

Deliver high-quality social work services, including psychosocial assessment, intervention, advocacy and support for patients, families and carers within the Surgical Services Clinical Program.
Apply evidence-based practice, professional judgement and problem-solving skills to manage a complex caseload and achieve positive patient outcomes.
Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and with external agencies to coordinate care and support equitable access to services.
Provide education,



consultation and support to social work colleagues and other healthcare professionals to enhance clinical practice and service delivery.
Contribute to quality improvement, research, service development and the implementation of clinical practices that support excellence in patient care.
