Senior Pastry Chef / Pastry Supervisor

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Pastry Chef or Pastry Supervisor to lead our pastry department.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll work alongside the team producing pastries, pies, cakes, desserts and seasonal products while developing people, improving systems and maintaining consistently high standards.

What you’ll be doing

Production

- Leading the day-to-day pastry operation

- Producing high-quality pastries, cakes, desserts and savoury products

- Coordinating production flow and daily priorities

- Maintaining consistent quality, presentation and execution

- Ensuring food-safety and workplace-safety standards are followed

Leadership

- Coaching and developing pastry team members

- Training new employees and building capability across the department

- Providing clear feedback and holding the team accountable to agreed standards

- Creating a positive, supportive and high-performing team culture

- Leading by example on the production floor

Continuous improvement

- Developing and refining recipes and products

- Improving workflows, systems and department organisation

- Maintaining recipes, specifications,



procedures and training materials

- Finding practical ways to improve quality, consistency and efficiency

Planning and administration

- Coordinating rosters and labour requirements

- Managing production planning and forecasting

- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and team development

- Working with our Operations and People teams on performance, recognition and development

What success looks like

After 12 months:

- The pastry team is secure, capable and engaged

- Expectations are clear, documented and consistently achieved

- Training systems are established and actively used

- Product quality and consistency continue to improve

- The department runs smoothly whether you’re on shift or not

About you

You’ll be a good fit if you:

- Have strong commercial pastry-production experience

- Have experience leading or supervising a team

- Enjoy coaching people and helping them improve

- Are organised, practical and systems-focused

- Take genuine pride in quality and consistency

- Look for ways to improve rather than accepting the status quo

- Can provide clear feedback and handle difficult conversations respectfully

- Are comfortable balancing hands-on production with leadership responsibilities

Salary: $75,000-$90,000
