Relationships Australia Northern Territory (RA-NT) is seeking a compassionate and experienced Children’s Counsellor / Group Facilitator to join its Children and Families team in Darwin.

This rewarding role provides trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic group programs for children and families, particularly those impacted by domestic and family violence. Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you’ll help children build resilience, strengthen family relationships, and improve wellbeing through evidence-based, culturally responsive practice.

About the Role

As the Children’s Counsellor / Group Facilitator, you will:

- Deliver trauma-informed counselling services to children affected by family and domestic violence.

- Facilitate therapeutic group programs for children.





- Support whole-of-family interventions involving parents, carers and kinship networks.

- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop tailored therapeutic plans.

- Manage complex cases while working from a strengths-based and culturally responsive framework.

- Advocate for children and families to access appropriate community supports.

- Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to strengthen service delivery and referral pathways.

- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with professional and organisational standards.

- Build relationships across the community and promote RA-NT’s services through networking and presentations.

- Participate in regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling.

- Current AHPRA registration or eligibility/current membership with the relevant professional association.

- Experience providing counselling services to children and families using a whole-of-family approach.

- Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practice, child development, attachment theory, grief and loss, and complex trauma.

- Excellent communication, relationship-building and advocacy skills.

- A commitment to culturally safe, child-focused and strengths-based practice.
