We’re looking for an experienced digital editor to help shape and showcase the biggest stories of the day for our growing online audience in APAC. You will be expected to perform a variety of roles: Curate homepages, write sharp headlines, craft social and SEO language, send mobile push alerts, participate in the video production process and use data to respond to readership trends. The successful candidate will have strong news judgment, understand digital consumption habits as well as coverage areas that matter to a business and finance audience, especially our subscribers. You will need to have a record of collaborating with reporters and editors across a global newsroom. We’re looking for a self-starter excited about breaking news and engaging audiences. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that often requires making split-second decisions, and be willing to pitch in across roles.
We’ll trust you to:
- Manage homepages to highlight the biggest news of the day globally
- Curate content to show off our best stories in all formats, including newsletters, podcasts and videos
- Develop coverage plans for breaking news and live events in collaboration with the News Desk
- Work along the News Desk to commission stories or videos geared towards the APAC audience
- Write and brainstorm web-friendly headlines with the newsroom
- Optimize content for SEO and monitor keyword opportunities
- Send mobile push alerts across regions as news breaks
- Work with our audience engagement team, which pushes priority content across social distribution platforms
- Feed back insights to relevant teams or the broader newsroom
You’ll need to have:
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience covering business journalism, financial markets or global news, preferably in a digital newsroom environment
- Excellent news judgment and attention to detail
- Strong headline-writing skills for the homepage and across social platforms
- An ability to adapt to changing news habits and audience behavior
- A collaborative spirit and a commitment to innovate and experiment
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
We’d love to see:
- Experience with web and social publishing tools, as well as analytics tools like ChartBeat, Parse.ly or Google Analytics
- Experience with video scripting, producing or editing (using tools including but not limited to Adobe Premiere Pro or FinalCut)
- Experience with web and social publishing tools, Photoshop and Google Search Console
