Role Objectives
To drive early manufacturing readiness and design‑to‑cost execution by working closely with the design team and manufacturing partners, identifying and resolving cost‑critical and process‑challenged areas before tool‑start greenlight, ensuring scalable, high‑yield and cost‑optimized mass production.
Responsibilities
- Validate internal product cost estimations/assumptions, supplier quotations, and manufacturing methods to improve cost estimate accuracy at key development stage gates.
- Identify key product cost drivers and recommend design-to-cost opportunities to achieve target cost without compromising product value.
- Partner with Design, Engineering teams and suppliers to identify and resolve cost risks.
- Drive product cost reduction initiatives through design optimisation, manufacturing efficiency improvements,
and supplier collaboration.
- Conduct technical cost reviews and support informed go/no-go decisions by providing clear analysis of cost, investment, ROI period, risks and compromises
- Develop and maintain costing tools, methodologies, and cost databases to improve estimation accuracy and efficiency.
- Support Procurement team in "Should Cost" cost benchmarking, QS negotiations, and supplier capability evaluation.
- Candidate with less experience or qualification will be considered as NPI Costing Engineer
