The Unaccredited Trainee is responsible for provision of independent and effective medical care of surgical patients under the supervision of specialist staff.
To assess patients referred by Emergency Department and other hospital departments.
To participate in after hours on call roster with other trainees.

Oversee the clinical care of surgical patients in the Surgical Ward, Day Surgery Unit and elsewhere under the supervision of the attending Medical Officers (Surgeons).
Oversee the completion of the diagnoses on the relevant front sheet of medical history, supervise medical history notes, and ensure completion of Discharge Summary at time of patient discharge.

Northern Beaches Hospital provides world-class, Level 5 delineation services for both public and private patients. The hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, 14 fully equipped theatres, including hybrid theatres, two cardiac catheter labs, extensive digital imaging / diagnostic facilities, medical centre collocated with ED, state of the art education and interactive SIM centre and a Helipad for Emergency Transport.

The Northern Beaches Hospital provides a high standard of education and training, with dedicated supervisors,



teachers and a JMO Unit that supports all activities related to rostering, training, education and welfare of junior doctors.

On level 4 of the 9-storey hospital is the Education Centre where doctors can access a range of facilities. These include the latest technology for teaching, simulation and presentations, plus various meeting rooms and conference areas.

There is capability to stream education sessions to/from other facilities, as well as within the hospital for the simulation rooms and theatres.

- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team Adept written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and other members of the health care team.
