Job Title: HR Business Partner
Location: Sydney, NSW (Hybrid - 3 days onsite / 2 days remote)
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Studio Director / General Manager
Employment Type: Full-time
Right to Work Requirement: Must have the right to work in Australia without visa sponsorship
Job Summary:
The HR Manager will oversee human resources functions for a busy animation studio in Sydney. The role includes responsibility for compliance with Australian employment law, contracts and policy development, recruitment coordination, and culture initiatives. This is a hybrid role with flexible working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
Employment Relations & Compliance:

- Interpret and apply Australian Industrial Relations (IR) law, including award compliance.
- Draft and manage employment contracts, HR policies, and procedures.
- Provide support in employee relations, disciplinary matters, and conflict resolution.

HR Operations:

- Maintain employee records and oversee HR administration.
- Lead performance review cycles and assist in policy updates.
- Ensure legal compliance across HR functions.

Recruitment & Onboarding:

- Support hiring managers with job briefs, ad creation,



and candidate sourcing.
- Coordinate interviews and manage onboarding documentation and processes.
- Provide a smooth onboarding experience for all new staff.

Culture & Engagement:

- Lead staff engagement initiatives, wellbeing programs, and team events.
- Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across the studio.
- Foster a positive, creative work culture aligned with studio values.

Required Experience & Skills:

- Minimum 3 years' experience in an HR Manager or Advisor role.
- Solid understanding of Australian employment law and HR compliance.
- Experience drafting and reviewing contracts and workplace policies.
- Familiarity with end-to-end recruitment processes.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- High attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Right to work in Australia (no sponsorship available).

Preferred Experience:

- Previous experience in creative, production, or animation environments.
- Exposure to HR software (e.g., Employment Hero, JobAdder, BambooHR).
