Summary

Supporting Independent Living Co-Operative (SILC), a not-for-profit provider, is seeking experienced and passionate Disability Support Workers to join our dedicated team at White Street Coop in Lilyfield.

We're looking for skilled support workers to provide person-centered care for two women in their 40’s, with down syndrome and complex support needs. Our residents are warm, social individuals loving life and living it to the fullest. They love music, art, photography, accessing the community and attending day programs. Both ladies thrive with consistent routines, clear communication, and staff who understand their needs and can confidently implement support strategies.

About the role

This position requires experience working with individuals who display challenging behaviours. You'll work as part of a collaborative team following a comprehensive Behaviour Support Plan with clear proactive and reactive strategies.

The role combines overnight care with daytime capacity building, community access support, and assistance with daily living skills in the SIL home.

What We’re Looking For

- Minimum 2+ years’ experience supporting people with autism and complex behaviours of concern
- Proven ability to remain calm and use de-escalation techniques during high-intensity incidents
- Confident working independently while following detailed support plans
- Understanding of restrictive practices and willingness to implement them ethically and safely
- Patient, non-judgemental approach with genuine commitment to improving quality of life
- Physical capability to working safely in an workplace where challenging behaviours may occur
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence

Key Responsibilities

- Implement proactive strategies to prevent behavioural escalation
- Follow reactive protocols when behaviours of concern occur




- Support daily living skills and build independence
- Assist in meal preparation and support domestic routines
- Facilitate community access and social participation
- Maintain detailed records and communicate with the support team and family
- Provide overnight supervision and respond to sleep disturbances
- Follow medication administration protocols including PRN management

Shifts Available

The house operates 7 days a week, with the residents receiving 24-hour care. The current gap is providing day and occasional overnight support.

Essential Requirements

- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain)
- NSW Driver’s License and insured vehicle for transport
- Physical capacity to respond safely during behavioural incidents
- Availability for overnight shifts
