Primary objective
Supports and provides collaborative, appropriate, proficient, coordinated direct and indirect clinical care for complex client presentations,
including working with and alongside less experienced nursing and midwifery staff, within the specialty area.

Context statement
This position is based in Clinic 34 Darwin and provides public health nursing expertise aimed at the prevention and management of sexually
transmitted infections and blood borne viruses in the Darwin region through client services, clinical education and service capacity building.




The roles may include sexual health services for people who put others at risk of infection (POAR) clients, outreach services, The Syphilis
Register Information System (SRIS) and other public health duties as required. The roles require demonstrated recent and advanced clinical
experience in sexual health and public health knowledge as it applies to sexual health.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.
2.



Demonstrated highly-developed clinical knowledge and skills in a relevant area of nursing/midwifery relating to this vacancy,

supporting well developed clinical decision-making and problem solving to achieve best practice healthcare outcomes.
3. Demonstrate and promote a learning environment through clinical support, instruction, and feedback including mentoring students,

graduates and less experienced staff across the multidisciplinary team.
4. Experience contributing to the development and implementation of local/regional policy, including interpreting established

professional precedents and organisational policies and supporting change management.
5. Demonstrated use of effective communication skills to influence and convince staff and/or clients, including on sensitive matters

requiring tact and diplomacy
6. Demonstrates well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities that

influence health care provision for clients and families.

Desirable
1. Graduate Certificate beyond entry-to-practice relevant to specialty area.
