Our client is now seeking a skilled and reliable Carpenter to join their skilled in office team. The role is full-time and ongoing, working across a variety of residential construction and renovation projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified tradesperson who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys seeing a project through from framework to final finish.
Responsibilities of our Carpenter will include:
· Study architectural drawings, plans and specifications to determine the materials required, dimensions and installation procedures for each residential build.
· Order and select timbers, timber substitutes and other materials, and prepare accurate layouts and set outs in accordance with the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards.
· Measure, cut, shape and smooth timber and other materials, and assemble and nail cut and shaped parts to the required specifications.
· Erect wall framing and roof framing, lay sub-flooring and floorboards, and verify the trueness of structures using levels, plumb bobs and other measuring tools.
· Nail fascia panels,
sheath roofs, and fit exterior wall cladding, door frames and window frames on new home builds.
· Assemble prepared timber to form structures and fittings ready for installation, including stairs, door frames and internal fixtures.
· Cut and form wood joints, and install fixtures and fittings such as doors, skirting, architraves, cabinetry and built-in units in custom-built homes.
· Construct and strip concrete formwork for footings and slabs where required.
· Carry out renovation, restoration and repair work on existing timber structures and fittings.
· Work safely with carpentry hand tools and power tools, follow all WHS requirements, and maintain a clean, organised and safe worksite at all times.
To be successfully considered for the role, you:
· Possess an AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or an AQF Certificate IV. In the absence of formal qualifications, at least three years of relevant, demonstrable carpentry experience may substitute.
· Have at least one year of relevant post-qualification experience in residential and/or commercial carpentry.
· Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret building plans, drawings and specifications accurately.
· Are proficient in the safe and effective use of carpentry hand tools and power tools.
· Hold sound knowledge of the National Construction Code, relevant Australian Standards and Work Health and Safety requirements.
· Hold, or be able to obtain, a valid White Card (Construction Induction Card).
· Hold a current Australian driver's licence.
· Show strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
· Are physically fit and able to undertake manual work across varying site and weather conditions.
