The Opportunity

Old Quarter is proudly Australia’s only specialty coffee company sourcing, roasting and serving 100% Southeast Asian green beans direct from smallholder farmers. Since day one, we've imported every coffee ourselves, building unique, long-term partnerships with our farming communities across the region and pioneering Southeast Asian coffee in the Australian coffee industry.

As a barista at Old Quarter, you'll play a key role in sharing these stories and introducing customers to emerging origins they may have never experienced before. You'll be brewing your way through a rotating lineup of filter and espresso coffees sourced directly from our farming partners, while creating genuine connections, delivering exceptional service and helping bring our mission to life - changing lives through coffee.

- Brew the perfect cup of coffee while providing genuine hospitality for our customers
- Communicate our unique coffee offering and engage with customers
- Maintain cleanliness and uphold high standards in all aspects of the coffee bar

Ideal Candidate

- Passionate about coffee and eager to learn about Southeast Asian coffees
- A solid understanding of concepts relating to specialty coffee brewing and service, processing, varieties, and growing regions (we can upskill in this area but please demonstrate self learning in this area!)
- Able to confidently follow specialty coffee recipes and understand all variables affecting extraction for multiple brew methods including pour-over, batch brew, cold brew and espresso (we can upskill the right individual).
- Experience in high-volume coffee and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards
- Strong communication skills, ability to passionately communicate about coffee, friendly demeanour
- Ambitious and proactive with a desire to grow
