About the role

The Registrar - MAIC / Jamieson Trauma Institute (JTI) & RBWH Plastics Surgery provides advanced clinical services within the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Jamieson Trauma Institute at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. The role is ideally suited to a surgeon pursuing a career in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with a strong interest in trauma research, offering a unique opportunity to combine specialised clinical practice with research, education and quality improvement activities.

The successful candidate will contribute to the care of complex reconstructive and trauma patients, participate in multidisciplinary models of care, and support the advancement of trauma outcomes through research and innovation. The role also involves teaching, supervision of junior staff and active participation in clinical governance initiatives that support excellence in patient care and service delivery.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

Provide high-quality clinical care for patients requiring plastic and reconstructive surgical services, including emergency and elective management of complex conditions.
Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver contemporary, evidence-based models of care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
Contribute to trauma and reconstructive surgery research through participation in established projects, clinical studies and collaborative partnerships with research organisations.




Support the education, training and supervision of junior medical staff and students while promoting professional excellence and lifelong learning.
Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, audit and policy development activities that enhance patient outcomes and service performance.
