About the role

The High Horse is seeking a talented and passionate Barista to join our team in Officer, VIC. This is a full-time position where you will be at the heart of our café operation, crafting exceptional coffee experiences and creating memorable moments for our guests. As a Barista, you will play a crucial role in delivering our commitment to quality, service excellence and hospitality. Your expertise and enthusiasm will directly contribute to The High Horse's reputation as a premier destination in the local community.

What you'll be doing

- Preparing and serving high-quality espresso-based beverages, specialty coffees and other hot and cold drinks with precision and care.
- Operating and maintaining espresso machines, grinders and other café equipment to ensure optimal performance and hygiene standards.
- Greeting guests warmly and providing knowledgeable recommendations based on their preferences.
- Taking orders accurately and efficiently during peak and quiet service periods.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming café workplace, including front-of-house and behind-the-counter areas.
- Managing stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups and other beverages, and communicating ordering needs to management.
- Processing payments and operating the point-of-sale system accurately.
- Collaborating with team members to ensure smooth service and a positive work environment.
- Adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times.





What we're looking for

- Minimum 2 years of experience in a café.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanour.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy periods.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle café equipment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering consistent quality.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Basic food safety and hygiene awareness.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Experience in a similar hospitality role is highly desirable.
