Urgently Required – Indian Cook

Salary: AUD $80,000 per annum + Superannuation

Roti Chai is a busy and well-established Indian restaurant in St Lucia, Brisbane, renowned for serving authentic North Indian cuisine. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Indian Cook to join our team immediately.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook a wide variety of authentic Indian curries, including chicken, lamb, seafood and vegetarian dishes.
- Prepare traditional Indian gravies, sauces, marinades and spice mixes.
- Cook tandoori items, rice dishes, biryanis and Indian breads as required.
- Ensure consistent taste, quality and presentation of all dishes.
- Assist with menu planning and development of new Indian dishes.
- Monitor food quality and portion control.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards in accordance with Australian regulations.
- Receive, inspect and store food supplies appropriately.
- Minimise food wastage and assist with stock rotation.
- Work efficiently during busy lunch and dinner service.
- Assist the Head Chef and work effectively within the kitchen team.

Selection Criteria





- Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification), or
- At least 2 years of relevant full-time experience as an Indian Cook.
- Demonstrated experience preparing authentic Indian curries and traditional Indian cuisine.
- Sound knowledge of Indian spices, herbs and cooking techniques.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant setting.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, hardworking and able to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
