Qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic (Cert III)

Savins Radiators & Mechanical is growing, and we're looking for a qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic who enjoys diagnosing faults, solving problems, and carrying out quality repairs.

We're a locally owned, family-run workshop with a robust reputation across the Northern Rivers. We specialise in genuine mechanical repairs—not just routine servicing—so you'll spend your days doing the work you became a mechanic to do.

What You'll Be Working On

As part of our team you'll be involved in a wide variety of work, including:

- Engine repairs, rebuilds and replacements
- Cooling system diagnostics and repairs
- Radiator repairs and replacements
- Suspension, steering and brake repairs
- Clutch and transmission replacements
- Differential and driveline repairs
- Timing belts, timing chains and major engine work
- Electrical diagnosis and fault finding
- Scan tool diagnostics and programming where required
- General servicing and preventative maintenance
- Road testing vehicles before and after repairs
- Preparing detailed job notes and communicating with the Service Advisor
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work area
- Working on performance, modified and enthusiast vehicles
- Assisting with custom builds, upgrades and restoration projects
- Collaborating with the team to diagnose difficult faults and deliver quality repairs

No two days are the same, with work ranging from everyday family vehicles through to performance cars, 4WDs and custom projects.

About You





You'll be someone who genuinely enjoys mechanical work and takes pride in doing the job properly the first time.

Ideally you'll have:

- Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (essential)
- Minimum 12 months post-trade experience preferred
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Experience using modern diagnostic scan tools
- Ability to accurately diagnose mechanical and electrical faults
- Confidence completing repairs independently
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship
- Robust attention to detail
- Good problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to help the team
- Ability to mentor or assist apprentices when required
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Own trade tools
- Commitment to workplace safety and following workshop procedures
- Honest, reliable and professional with a strong work ethic
