About the Role
As Executive Assistant to the General Manager and Mayor, you’ll be at the centre of Council’s executive operations. You’ll provide high‑level administrative, governance and coordination support that keeps our leadership team informed, organised and able to deliver for the community.
From managing complex schedules to preparing polished documentation and supporting Council’s meeting processes, this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, detail‑driven environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be the organisational anchor for the General Manager,
Mayor and Councillors—keeping schedules running smoothly, communications clear, and governance processes on track. Your work will shape how Council operates day‑to‑day.
- Coordinate executive calendars, meetings, enquiries and travel
- Prepare polished reports, correspondence, briefing notes and policy documents
- Support Council’s governance processes, including business papers, minutes, action sheets and registers
- Attend Council and committee meetings to record accurate minutes and resolutions
- Assist with key civic events such as Local Government Week, Australia Day and Citizenship Ceremonies
- Contribute to project research, information gathering and documentation
- Maintain records, uphold confidentiality and deliver professional customer service
Who We’re Looking For
You’re someone who brings:
- A qualification in Business Administration or equivalent experience
- Exceptional organisational skills and sound judgement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent relationship‑building skills across staff, elected members and the community
- High digital capability, including advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to interpret legislation, policies and procedures within a local government context
Desirable:
- Experience with Civica Altitude, ECM (DataWorks), Infocouncil or similar systems
- Understanding of NSW local government governance and meeting processes
- Current Class C driver licence
