Our client, Tikka Junction, is a well-established Indian restaurant based in Clayton, Victoria, offering authentic Indian cuisine with a dedication to traditional cooking methods and bold, distinctive flavours. The restaurant specialises in classic tandoori dishes, aromatic curries, and a range of Indo-inspired meals prepared using quality ingredients, traditional recipes, and carefully selected spices. Providing dine-in, takeaway, and catering services, Tikka Junction is known for serving popular favourites including tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, paneer tikka, and a variety of freshly prepared Indian dishes.
The business is currently looking for an experienced Cook to join their kitchen team and help deliver high-quality meals while maintaining the restaurant’s standards of authenticity, flavour, and presentation.
The annual salary for the Cook position is $79,500 to 80,000.
Duties include:
- Preparing and cooking a variety of authentic Indian dishes, including tandoori items, curries, rice dishes, vegetarian meals, and Indo-inspired specialties in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.
- Preparing ingredients for daily kitchen operations, including marinating meats, chopping vegetables, preparing spice blends, making sauces, and portioning ingredients for cooking.
- Operating and maintaining traditional Indian cooking equipment, including tandoor ovens, grills, stovetops, and other commercial kitchen appliances, to produce consistently high-quality meals.
- Preparing and cooking tandoori dishes such as tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, paneer tikka,
and other marinated items using appropriate cooking techniques and seasoning methods.
- Preparing a range of Indian curries by combining spices, herbs, vegetables, meats, and sauces while following traditional cooking methods and maintaining consistency of flavour and presentation.
- Monitoring food preparation and cooking processes to ensure meals are cooked to the required standards for taste, texture, temperature, portion size, and presentation.
- Assisting with menu preparation and adapting dishes according to customer requirements, including dietary preferences, spice levels, and special requests.
- Ensuring all food preparation areas, cooking equipment, and kitchen utensils are cleaned, sanitised, and maintained in accordance with food safety and workplace hygiene standards.
- Checking the quality and freshness of ingredients, managing stock levels, and assisting with ordering and storage of food supplies to support productive kitchen operations.
- Maintaining food safety practices, including correct food handling, storage, temperature control, and compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.
- Collaborating with kitchen staff and front-of-house team members to coordinate food production, manage service periods, and ensure timely preparation of dine-in, takeaway, and catering orders.
- Assisting with the development and improvement of menu items by contributing culinary knowledge, refining recipes, and maintaining the authenticity and consistency of Indian cuisine.
Qualifications:
- Must have two (2) years of experience.
- Should hold a Certificate III, IV, and Diploma in a related field.
Pay: $79,500.00 – $80,000.00 per year
