About the opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to step into a broad, hands-on Accountant role within a growing property and hospitality group, working closely with a small, collaborative team across townhouse developments, land subdivisions, industrial projects, rental properties, and hospitality venues. You will assist with multiple entities and projects, help shape how information is reported, and support the team in making better decisions. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety, wants to build a deep understanding of the business, and is looking to grow into a senior finance leadership role in the future.
Key responsibilities
· Assist in preparing monthly and annual financial statements for each company and trust in the group, plus simple consolidated reports for the management.
· Run the month‑end and year‑end process: reconciliations, journals, closing ledgers and putting together working papers that are easy for our external accountant to review.
· Manage all ATO and government lodgements for the group (BAS, IAS, GST, PAYG, payroll tax, FBT) and keep track of due dates so nothing is missed.
· Work with our external tax accountant to prepare income tax returns for companies, trusts and related individuals, making sure our records and schedules are complete and accurate.
· Assist in maintaining cash‑flow forecasts for each property project (townhouse developments, land subdivisions, industrial projects) and for the group as a whole, clearly highlighting upcoming funding needs and expected inflows from sales, settlements and rental income.
· Support feasibility reviews for new and existing projects by building and updating Estate Master/Excel/Power BI models, including sensitivity analyses on sales prices, construction costs, funding costs and project timelines to show the impact on project profitability and cash requirements.
· Build and update simple project models (costs, revenue, profit)
so the management can see how each development is tracking against budget.
· Prepare and review rental and property management reports (income, outgoing, arrears, occupancy) using data from property management systems.
· Assist in group's accounting systems and files organization and continuously look for ways to reduce manual work and duplication.
· Maintain strong internal checks and controls around payments, approvals, trust accounts, project expenses and inter‑company transfers.
· Use Excel and Power BI to produce clear management reports and dashboard on project performance, rental results and hospitality operations.
· Provide straightforward written and verbal summaries to the management about monthly results, project outcomes and any issues that need attention.
· Coordinate financial information required by banks and lenders for project finance, including covenant reporting, project cashflow schedules and supporting documentation.
Ideal Candidate
· Degree / Master in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
· Minimum 2-year industry related experience in financial accounting, ideally in property development, construction, rental, industrial, land subdivision or another area with multiple entities or projects.
· Good understanding of Australian tax and accounting requirements for small‑to‑medium businesses.
· Experience in hospitality (e.g. venues, food & beverage, retail, accommodation) is highly regarded.
· Ability to communicate in English plus Mandarin, Malay and Cantonese will be highly regarded for dealing with investors and clients.
· Excellent attention to detail, analytical capability, and ability to meet competing deadlines.
· Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
· A proactive, cooperative approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Software requirements (must‑have)

· Practical opportunities to build towards senior finance / finance manager level responsibilities over time.
