Position: Arborist /Tree Worker – Full time

Salary: $65000-$75000

GFM Trees is a locally owned and operated arboriculture company delivering professional tree management solutions across the Cairns & Far North Qld. With a solid reputation for safety, quality, and environmental care, we’re expanding our team and seeking motivated Arborists to join our growing operations.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, team-based role supporting a wide range of tree related projects. You’ll operate machinery and vehicles, work at various sites around the Cairns, and help deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes for our clients.

Key duties include:

· Operating equipment (chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, tip trucks, and other plant & equipment

· Assisting with tree pruning, removals, and site clean-ups. Lopping limbs and shaping branches using chainsaws and handsaws to promote growth

· Tree Removal: Safely felling dead or diseased trees and grinding out stumps

· Treatments: Spraying or injecting trees with fertilizers and insecticides to treat pests and diseases

· Inspecting Trees:



Examining individual trees to check their health, stability and risks of falling.

· Tree clearance: Shaping and balancing trees away from buildings or services

· Feeding woodchippers and handling machinery safely

· Conducting daily maintenance and pre-start checks

· Loading, unloading, and transporting machinery and green waste

· Working collaboratively within a professional, safety-focused crew

Essential:

- Positive can-do attitude
- Construction White Card
- Physically fit and capable of outdoor work
- Commitment to safety and teamwork
- 1-3 years work experience
- Diploma qualifications
- Work experience may substitute for the formal qualifications

Highly Regarded:

- HR or MR truck licence (or willingness to obtain)
- Chainsaw ticket (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience in arboriculture, landscaping, or construction
- EWP or other machinery tickets
