- Plan, estimate food and labour costs, ordering food supplies and develop menus to ensure high quality food products and restaurant profitability.
- Schedule and supervise kitchen helpers.
- Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices.
- Monitor quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
- Discuss food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitian's and kitchen and waiting staff.
- Demonstrate techniques and advising on cooking procedures.
- Preparing and cook food.
- Explain and enforce hygiene regulations.
- Select and Train staff.
- Freeze and preserve foods.
- Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances, Estimate food requirements and food costs.
- Train and clean kitchen and work area.
- Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience.
- Monitor food stock and place orders.
- Check freshness of food and discard out of date items.
Qualification & Experience:
- Candidates holding a Certificate IV level qualification or higher in a relevant field will be given preference.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in the role of a chef is required.
