Liverpool Hospital is recruiting for a Provisional Fellow to complement and enhance the current General Surgery department.

Where You'll Be Working
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP)
project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.
Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.
What you'll be doing
The role will predominantly be to participate with the GSET Trainees in assessment of emergency patients and consults, assisting in the operating theatres as well as the routine functioning of the units within the Department of General Surgery. The post-holder will be encouraged to participate alongside the Departments General Surgical Fellows in providing 2nd on-call cover to the trainees at times. The position holder will be responsible for co-ordinating the comprehensive care of patients within the unit including arranging consultation with other staff when appropriate,
arranging discharge and liaising with local medical officers and other community-based care modalities in order to ensure provision of optimal patient care within South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD).

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated experience and training in General Surgery to the level required for eligibility to present of the FRACS final examinations
- Commitment and ability to perform as a Provisional Fellow in General- Surgery with participation in the on-call trainee rosters
- Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem solving skills in the clinical setting
- Demonstration of clinical competence in managing surgical patients, in accordance with the Australian Curriculum Framework for Junior Doctors
- Demonstrated ability to work in a complex hospital based clinical environment
- Evidence of continued professional development specific to General surgery and commitment to self- education and teaching undergraduate and postgraduates.
- Experience in teaching
