Automation and Control Engineer - Manufacturing

We are a rapidly expanding FMCG manufacturing company specializing in high-quality bottled water production. To support our facility upgrade, including a high-speed automated bottling and packaging line, we require an Automation and Control Engineer to manage the process and control systems.

We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Automation and Control/Production Engineer to join our team. You will be the crucial technical bridge between our external equipment suppliers and our internal operations team, playing a pivotal role in the installation, commissioning, and long-term continuous optimization of our automated plant.

Key Responsibilities

As our internal technical expert, you will not be writing source code from scratch but rather managing and optimizing the industrial control systems that drive our production. Your daily responsibilities will include:

- Project Commissioning & Integration: Act as the primary technical liaison with external machinery vendors during the installation phase. Coordinate technical requirements, participate in Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and ensure all control interfaces handshake correctly.
- System Configuration & SCADA Management: Monitor, configure, and maintain the plant’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and HMI terminals to ensure real-time data visibility across the entire bottling line.
- Process Optimization: Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks. Fine-tune PLC parameters, Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), and pneumatic actuators to maximize filling accuracy and overall line efficiency (OEE).
- Predictive Maintenance:

Develop data-driven preventive maintenance schedules based on system alarm logs and sensor data. Guide the mechanical maintenance team in targeted troubleshooting to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Technical Documentation: Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), electrical schematic records, and fault-finding guides for the production team.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong blend of theoretical engineering knowledge and practical factory-floor experience:

- Tertiary Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Control Systems, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Industry Experience: Demonstrated experience in an industrial automation, FMCG, or packaging machinery environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding of PLC logic, HMI configuration, and SCADA system architecture.
- Hands-on Capability: Proven ability to execute on-site subsystem debugging, interface testing, and complex root-cause analysis.
- Soft Skills: Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues to both external vendors and non-technical floor staff.

What We Offer

- Base salary of $82,000-$90,000 + Superannuation.
- The unique opportunity to take ownership of a brand-current production line from day one.
- A stable, long-term career path within a growing local manufacturing business.

To Apply

- Candidates must have current full-time working rights in Australia.
- Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your experience with automated manufacturing systems.

Pay: $82,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
