About this prospect:
As a Leading Hand Natural Area, you will assist in delivering a range of natural area management activities including ecological restoration, weed control and revegetation works across the Mackay Region. Working closely with the Supervisor Natural Area Management, you will support the day-to-day coordination of field operations while providing guidance and leadership to team members.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the supervision and coordination of natural area field staff.
- Supporting the delivery of ecological restoration, revegetation and weed management programs.
- Planning, scheduling and delivering maintenance activities and minor projects.
- Ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with agreed service levels and standards.
- Assisting to foster a positive team culture focused on workplace health, safety and wellbeing.
- Operating and maintaining plant and equipment relevant to natural area management activities.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Qualification in Bush Regeneration, Natural Resource Management or a related field (Diploma preferred, however less formal qualifications will also be considered).
- Current QLD "C" Class Driver Licence.
- General Construction Induction Training (White Card).
- Chainsaw Level 1 Licence.
- ACDC Weed Spraying Licence.
- Experience communicating work instructions and supporting field-based teams.
- Experience planning, scheduling and delivering tasks or projects.
- Practical experience in natural area management, bush regeneration, revegetation or a related field.
- Sound knowledge of natural area management, vegetation restoration principles and associated legislative requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
- Sound time management skills and the ability to work safely and effectively in outdoor environments
