Sales Assistant – Royal Persian Carpets

Royal Persian Carpets is looking for a friendly, confident and reliable Sales Assistant to join our showroom team.

The showroom is generally relaxed and laid-back, but when customers arrive, you will need to be proactive, attentive and confident in helping them find the right rug. Robust communication and sales skills are essential, as you will be expected to describe different carpets clearly, understand customers’ needs and help turn enquiries into sales.

Key responsibilities:

- Greeting customers and assisting them throughout the showroom
- Explaining rug styles, sizes, materials, quality and care
- Recommending suitable rugs based on customers’ needs and budgets
- Confidently closing sales without being overly pushy
- Moving, lifting, rolling and hanging carpets of various sizes
- Creating professional sale signs and other materials using Microsoft Word
- Entering and organising information using Microsoft Excel
- Reading, writing and responding to business emails
- Using the point-of-sale system and other computer programs
- Keeping the showroom clean, organised and well presented




- Completing general retail and administrative duties

The ideal candidate will:

- Have strong sales and customer-service skills
- Be confident and capable when using computers
- Be comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel and email
- Communicate clearly and professionally in person and in writing
- Be physically capable of safely moving and hanging carpets
- Be friendly, approachable, reliable and honest
- Be able to work independently and show initiative
- Have good attention to detail and presentation
- Have previous retail or sales experience

This role would suit someone who enjoys a relaxed working environment but understands when to take initiative, provide excellent service and make a sale.
