Cook – Chinese Cuisine

Salary from $70,100 per annum

Restaurant offers extensive traditional and contemporary Cantonese dishes with some Sichuan and Hakka dishes.

About the Role

Prepare, cook, and present authentic Chinese dishes using traditional techniques such as wok frying, steaming, roasting, and stir‑frying, while ensuring consistency and quality.

Key tasks include:

· prepare and cook a range of Chinese dishes such as stir‑fries, noodles, dumplings, soups, roast meats, seafood, etc

· use traditional cooking methods such as wok frying, steaming, braising, and roasting

· ensure dishes are consistent in flavour, portion, and presentation

· follow established recipes and portion guidelines

· adapt dishes to customer preferences or dietary requirements when needed

· maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen

· monitor stock levels, order ingredients, and check freshness of supplies

· ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene,



and occupational health standards

· work with other kitchen staff and front of house staff to ensure smooth service

· train or guide junior staff in Chinese cooking techniques

Qualifications and Skills

· at least three (3) years of culinary experience in Chinese restaurants

· experience preparing and cooking Cantonese, Sichuan, and Hakka cuisine preferred

· solid knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques and ingredients

· demonstrated knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards

· ability to work swiftly in a busy kitchen

· understanding of food safety and hygiene practices

· authorisation to work in Australia
