This isn't another tutoring role.
We've partnered with a national not-for-profit to deliver one-on-one tutoring for Indigenous students at some of Queensland's leading boarding schools, and we're looking for passionate tutors to join our team.
Location
Tutoring takes place on campus at:
- St Margaret's Anglican Girls School, Ascot
- Clayfield College, Clayfield
Sessions are one-on-one (occasionally with two students) in English, Maths and Science for students in Years 7–12.
No lesson planning. No marking. No admin. Resources are provided.
You simply show up, teach, and make a genuine difference.
What We're Looking For
- Completed Year 12 in Australia (QCE strongly preferred)
- Strong knowledge of English, Maths and/or Science (Australian curriculum)
- Able to commit to consistent weekly tutoring sessions
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain concepts clearly and build rapport with students
Highly Regarded
- Previous tutoring, teaching or mentoring experience
- University studies in Education, STEM or a related discipline
- A genuine understanding of, or connection to, Indigenous communities and culture
This Role Isn't Right For You If You...
- Can't commit to regular weekly sessions
- Are looking for a purely transactional tutoring job
- Don't enjoy building long-term relationships with students
What You'll Get
- Competitive hourly pay
- Back-to-back tutoring sessions available
- Flexible hours that fit around university or other work
- All teaching resources provided
- Ongoing training, mentoring and support
- The opportunity to make a real impact in students' lives every week
What Our Tutors Say
"I began tutoring at the start of 2025, originally seeing it as a straightforward way to make some money doing something I was valuable at. But through the Yalari program, this semester has shown me that tutoring is so much more than that. Working with Indigenous students has allowed me to connect with people I may never have met otherwise. As the semester ended, it was bittersweet to farewell a group of students with whom I've built such strong connections."
