On behalf of a highly regarded, boutique building contractor in Sydney, we are seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to join their growing Major Loss & Complex Projects division.
Known for an exceptional reputation and a premium standard of workmanship, this firm specializes in complex, high-value residential renovations, structural extensions, and major insurance claims. Due to a rapidly growing pipeline of large-scale projects, they are looking for a dedicated specialist to oversee complex, high-value projects ranging from $100k up to $1M+ in value.

The Role:
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take end-to-end accountability for the on-site delivery of high-value, complex structural renovations, additions, and major insurance repair projects across Sydney.
This is a critical, high-impact role requiring a rare balance of deep technical building expertise, strict timeline management, and empathetic, client-facing communication.

Key Responsibilities:

- On-Site Leadership: Manage residential renovation, addition, and major loss projects from pre-construction through to handover. Coordinate day-to-day trade operations across multiple concurrent sites.
- Subcontractor & WHS Management: Coordinate, supervise, and drive an established panel of pre-qualified subcontractors, consultants, engineers, and certifiers, ensuring uncompromising standards of safety (WHS) and quality assurance.
- Program & Budget Maintenance: Develop, drive, and maintain construction programmes and project budgets to ensure works are completed on schedule, minimizing variations.
- Problem Solving & Latent Conditions: Proactively identify and resolve site challenges associated with older homes, unforeseen structural conditions, and design changes.
- Stakeholder & Client Relations: Act as the face of the business on-site. Conduct regular progress meetings and provide transparent, professional, and empathetic communication to high-expectation homeowners, policyholders,



and strata managers.
- Procurement & Reporting: Oversee procurement, contract administration, and site progress reporting. Work closely with internal estimating and project management teams to report on milestones and variations.

Candidate Profile (Critical Criteria):

- We are specifically looking for someone who understands that complex renovations and major loss repairs are fundamentally different from new builds.
- Minimum 5+ years managing residential renovation and alteration projects, with at least 3–5 years of proven experience working specifically within the Australian building insurance sector (Major Loss).
- Proven track record delivering complex structural renovations, additions, extensions, or severe major loss claims (e.g., severe fire, structural impact, major water ingress) valued up to $1M+.
- Strong understanding of temporary works, structural sequencing, and construction methodologies required when working within existing buildings. Deep knowledge of Australian building codes, NCC requirements, and residential construction standards.
- A carpentry or building trade qualification, backed by a current NSW Supervisor Certificate or Builder's Licence.
- Strong ability to interpret complex architectural, structural, engineering documentation, and Statements of Work (SOW).
- Outstanding interpersonal and client-facing communication skills, with a proven ability to manage sensitive customer situations and high-expectation stakeholders with diplomacy and care.
- Current valid Australian Driver’s Licence and White Card.
