The Mechanical Fitter will play a critical role in assisting the day-to-day operations of a battery recycling facility. They are responsible for the repair and planned maintenance of existing processing and ancillary equipment operations, as well as supporting installation and commissioning of current equipment. This will involve fabrication, equipment modifications, assembly, adjustment and calibration of equipment to ensure optimum and protected operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific responsibilities include:
- Installation and Assembly: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals to assemble mechanical components and systems. Install and align machinery, ensuring proper fit and functionality. Use hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments as needed.
- Maintenance and Repair:
Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the optimal performance of mechanical systems. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement appropriate repairs. Replace faulty components and conduct preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
- Machine Adjustment and Calibration: Adjust and calibrate machinery to achieve specified performance levels. Ensure proper alignment, tension, and clearances of mechanical parts. Test and fine-tune equipment settings for optimal functionalit
- Health, Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all operations are conducted in compliance with health and safety regulations. Lead by example to support a continuous safety culture as part of Lithium Group team. Take a proactive approach in identifying potential hazards and risks, and implement the necessary processes and systems required to minimise hazards and risks and improve operational effectiveness. Provide feedback and assist the Site Manager in identifying and implementing areas for continuous improvement of health and safety procedures and performance
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and installations. Complete work orders, service reports, and other documentation as required. Provide clear and concise reports to supervisors or clients on the status of work performed.
- Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate with team members, supervisors,
and other stakeholders to ensure effective workflow and timely completion of projects. Communicate technical information and recommendations clearly and professionally.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with advancements in mechanical systems, technologies, and best practices. Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the implementation of innovative solutions. Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
EY SELECTION CRITERIA
The key selection criteria for the Mechanical Fitter are as follows:
Qualifications & Experience
- High school certificate; Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering / Fitting and Turning is preferred.
- Proven experience as a mechanical fitter or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment.
Skills and Attributes
- Ability to use a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments.
- Solid understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
- Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Physical stamina to handle demanding tasks and work in various settings (e.g., confined spaces, heights)
OTHER JOB RELATED INFORMATION
- Travel between sites will be required (company van)
- Hours are 6:30AM - 2:30PM
Pay: $45.00 per hour
