The Role
We're looking for an Aquaculture Technician - Farm Operations to join our team at our Proserpine Prawn Farm, located in the beautiful region between Airlie Beach and Bowen.
Working 12-hour shifts on a 2/2/3 roster, you'll assist with the everyday running of the prawn ponds, playing a key role in maintaining animal health and ensuring optimal conditions for prawn growth in our fast-paced aquaculture environment.

This is a full time, fixed-term contract position running until the end of March 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with water management to maintain optimal pond conditions for prawn health and growth.
- Conduct daily pond monitoring, checking prawn health, water quality, and aeration systems.
- Perform equipment cleaning and routine maintenance to keep farm operations running smoothly.
- Collect accurate data and use digital systems (iPad) to record and report on pond conditions and tasks.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures while completing tasks.
- Support the team with general farm operations as required, while also being comfortable working independently when needed.
Role Requirements
We are looking for someone who is physically fit, reliable, and comfortable working outdoors in all conditions.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Be physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong observational skills and the ability to identify potential issues early.
- Basic IT skills, including the ability to use iPads for data entry, reporting, and task management.
- Aquaculture experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- A positive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when required.
- A current Australian driver's licence and reliable transport to site.
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening.
