Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) is a principal tertiary referral hospital within Northern Sydney Local Health District, delivering a comprehensive range of complex and highly specialised healthcare services to patients across Northern Sydney and Current South Wales.

What you'll be doing

The primary purpose of the Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) in the Intensive Care Unit is to provide clinical care, under appropriate supervision, to patients requiring Intensive Care services in a complex clinical environment. This position will provide experience in a critical care environment and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the incumbent.

Royal North Shore Hospital is a 58-bed quaternary intensive Care Unit that acts as a state referral centre for patients with major trauma, burns and spinal injuries, as well as managing complex medical and surgical patients.
SRMOs rotate through all 4 units, two general and two surgical intensive care units that provide specific neurosurgical and cardiothoracic care for emergency and elective patients. SRMOs are expected to participate in a 24/7 roster and may be rostered to day or night shifts across a seven-day roster.

The SRMOs will work under the guidance of the research department within the ICU in order to develop a further understanding of the role of research in medicine, with the aim of completing a research project over the course of the year.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases

To be employed by NSW Health, applicants must provide evidence of vaccination and comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy Directive (PD2024_01. Compliance with this policy, including any amendments made from time to time, is a mandatory condition of employment.

Applicants will be required to provide acceptable evidence of their vaccination status, immunity, and any other occupational health requirements relevant to the position. Evidence must be submitted and assessed in accordance with NSW Health requirements prior to commencement.
