Who We Are

At Cooler, we build tough, Australian-made refrigerated truck bodies and specialist vehicles for fleet operators across Queensland.

The work is varied. One week you might be fabricating components for a new custom build; the next you could be working on repairs, modifications or fleet upgrades. You will be building finished vehicles that go straight into demanding transport operations, not feeding small parts through a repetitive production line.

We take pride in doing things properly, finding practical solutions and backing each other when the workload is on.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Welder / Fabricator who can work confidently with both aluminium and steel.

You do not need experience with truck bodies. What matters is that you can weld and fabricate accurately, read drawings, solve practical problems and take pride in the finished product.

This role suits someone who enjoys variety, works well with others and can be trusted to keep standards high without needing someone looking over their shoulder.

What You’ll Be Doing

- MIG and TIG welding of aluminium, mild steel and stainless steel
- Fabricating and assembling truck body components from drawings and measurements
- Cutting, shaping, fitting and finishing fabricated parts
- Building custom refrigerated truck bodies and specialist vehicle components
- Completing repairs, modifications and fleet upgrades
- Checking measurements, fit and weld quality throughout each job
- Working with other tradespeople to complete projects properly
- Keeping your work area, tools and equipment safe and organised

What We’re Looking For





- Strong welding and fabrication experience
- Confidence working with aluminium and steel
- Experience reading drawings and fabricating to specification
- A good eye for fit, finish and weld quality
- Practical problem-solving skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a crew
- Reliability, a strong work ethic and a willingness to help others
- Pride in producing work that will still look good and perform properly years later

A trade qualification in fabrication, welding, boilermaking or a related field is valued, but proven skill and experience matter most.

Experience in truck bodies, trailers, vehicle fit-outs, sheet metal, marine fabrication or similar custom work would be highly regarded.
