Position Information

The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools. We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.

About the Role

A School Administrative Officer provides administrative, financial and student welfare/wellbeing support and assistance in relation to office and classroom activities, including but not limited to the following school settings: the office, sick bay, library, science laboratory, and food technology/kitchen areas.

Essential Requirements

-
Working with Children Check Clearance

- First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake First Aid training.

- Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs.

Selection Criteria

- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively as part of a team.
- Administration skills including a knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Office.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with teachers and students.
- Ability to perform tasks in one or more of the following areas: office procedures; accounting procedures; sick bay; hospitality and /or design and technology; science.

Additional Information

The Ponds High School, located in the suburb of The Ponds in the north-west of Sydney is a 7-12 comprehensive high school that has 2420 students in Years 7-12, 2026. Fifty-three per cent of these students come from a non-English speaking background and 1.3% identify as ATSI. The school shares a site with Riverbank Public School and is a part of innovative and energetic community approach to teaching and learning.



The school has developed outstanding teaching and learning programs including; a strong welfare approach to student wellbeing, a culturally inclusive program and support for the creative and performing arts. TPHS has small support classes and a High Potential and Gifted Education class in each year and has an active BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program using the learning platform CANVAS. The SASS staff is a large and cohesive team of 22. The SASS staff use the school learning platform CANVAS to support teachers and school strategic directions.
