Gold Star Pools is a leading pool repainting and renovation company servicing residential and commercial clients across Australia. We specialise in fibreglass pool repainting and resurfacing through the application of high-performance protective coating systems.

Due to continued growth and expansion, we are seeking a skilled and reliable Painting Trades Worker to join our expanding NSW trade team in a full-time, ongoing capacity. This role services projects across Wollongong and Sydney areas and requires regular and extensive travel across the region.

The Role

This is a hands-on trade role involving the preparation and application of protective coating systems to concrete and fibreglass swimming pool structures. The position is permanent and ongoing and is performed in a mobile capacity, with the employee working from home and travelling to client sites.

The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing, repairing, painting and finishing pool surfaces to a high professional standard, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with client specifications and manufacturer requirements.

Regular regional travel and working away from home is a mandatory and core requirement of this role.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

● Mechanical surface preparation including cleaning, grinding, sanding, patching,



priming and acid etching of concrete and fibreglass substrates.

● Repair of surface defects including osmosis (blistering), cracking and delamination using remedial fillers and reinforcement systems to ensure a structurally sound substrate prior to coating.

● Mixing and application of industrial coating systems including two-pack epoxies, vinyl esters and gel coats in accordance with manufacturer Technical Data Sheets (TDS).

● Application of paints, varnishes and protective coatings using brushes and rollers.

● Measurement of surface areas and calculation of Dry Film Thickness (DFT) requirements to estimate material volumes and project specifications.

● Colour matching and preparation of coating systems to meet project and client requirements.

● Ensuring all finishes meet quality, safety and compliance standards.

● Maintaining tools, equipment and a clean and safe work environment.

● Working collaboratively with team members and clients to deliver projects on time and to quality standards.

● Travelling to client sites across Greater Sydney and Regional NSW as required.

Skills & Experience Required

● Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a professional painter.





● Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent demonstrated trade experience).

● Proven experience working with two-pack epoxy, vinyl ester and gel-coat systems.

● Strong knowledge of surface preparation techniques and paint application equipment.

● Ability to read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and safely manage hazardous chemicals, including working in confined or enclosed spaces with appropriate ventilation.

● Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

● Current NSW Driver’s Licence (required).

● Construction White Card (required).

Salary & Conditions

● Annual salary of $75,000 – $85,000 plus superannuation, depending on skills and experience.

● Salary reflects the technical nature of the work and the regional travel requirements.
