Inspire young performers through creativity, collaboration and movement
Loreto Kirribilli is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Choreographer to join the creative team for our 2027 School Musical. This contract chance is ideal for a creative dance professional who enjoys working with young people and is passionate about developing engaging performances that inspire confidence and creativity.
Working alongside the Director, Musical Director and Producer, you will create and teach choreography that complements the production, enhances storytelling and enables students of all experience levels to perform with confidence.
About the role
As Choreographer, you will:
- Create engaging, age-appropriate choreography that reflects the style and storytelling of the production.
- Teach choreography clearly to students with a range of dance abilities.
- Adapt choreography to suit different skill levels, cast sizes and performance spaces.
- Develop movement that enhances character, storytelling and stage presence.
- Plan and lead structured, effective rehearsals.
- Promote safe dance practices, including appropriate warm-ups and movement techniques.
- Provide constructive feedback to support students' growth and performance.
- Collaborate closely with the Director, Musical Director and Producer to ensure choreography aligns with the overall artistic vision.
- Work with the production team to ensure choreography is practical for staging, costumes and technical requirements.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience choreographing musical theatre productions.
- Experience teaching or mentoring performers of varying ages and abilities.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to motivate, encourage and build confidence in young performers.
- Strong collaboration skills and a commitment to working as part of a creative team.
- A passion for creating an inclusive, supportive and enjoyable rehearsal environment.
Production Schedule
Rehearsals are held after school on Tuesdays and Fridays, with some Sunday rehearsals as required.
Key dates include:
- Auditions: August 2026
- Rehearsals: September – November 2026
- Rehearsal Intensive: Commencing 21 January 2027
- Performances: 24–26 February 2027 at Loreto Kirribilli
