We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Care Officer to join our team in Dirranbandi, Queensland, a remote community. Key Responsibilities

· Ensure the safety, well-being, and dignity of residents with disability in a residential care setting.

· Assess individual needs of NDIS participants to develop and implement personalised support, training, and life skills programs.

· Support and empower residents to build independence, enhance daily living skills, and improve overall quality of life.

· Facilitate and encourage resident participation in community activities to promote inclusion and social engagement.

· Conduct client interviews to identify personal, emotional, and social challenges impacting their wellbeing.

· Monitor and record resident progress, updating support plans as needed and maintaining accurate documentation.

· Identify local resources and services related to health, housing, employment, and other areas relevant to NDIS participants.

· Deliver structured skill-building and activity programs with limited supervision, both individually and as part of a team.

· Liaise with families, support coordinators, community groups, service providers, and government agencies to ensure coordinated care.

· Provide care and support in group homes and other supported accommodation settings, assisting with daily routines and personal tasks.

· Assist with meal planning, preparation,



and cooking according to resident needs and dietary requirements.

· Help residents manage behavioural challenges by implementing Behaviour Support and Management Plans.

· Refer participants to relevant allied health professionals, services, or community supports as appropriate.

· Advocate for residents' rights and preferences in all aspects of care and community engagement.

· Prepare reports, care documentation, and funding submissions in line with NDIS compliance and service requirements.

· Respond to general enquiries, assist with special projects, and contribute to a safe, supportive, and person-centred environment.

· Participate in team meetings, training, supervision, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

· Work effectively and independently in a remote community workplace.

Essential Requirements

· Completed at least a Diploma OR an overseas bachelor degree, preferably in Nursing or a related field; alternatively, at least three years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications.

· Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in disability support, residential care, aged care, or community services.

· Willingness to work and live in Dirranbandi, Queensland (Remote).

· Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, sleepovers, public holidays, and overnight shifts.

· Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.

· Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, or ability to obtain.





· Police Clearance Certificate and ability to meet relevant character requirements.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

· Understanding of person-centred practice and the rights, dignity, and choices of people with disability.

Desirable

· Experience supporting participants with complex behaviours, psychosocial disability, or high-intensity support needs.

· Knowledge and understanding of NDIS Practice Standards.

· Experience with Positive Behaviour Support.

· Medication competency.

· Manual handling training.

· Previous experience working in a rural or remote community.

· Strong ability to adapt to the unique needs and challenges of remote service delivery.
