Aspire Academics is an in-person tutoring centre in Truganina supporting students from Years 3 to 12. We run a dedicated Selective Entry preparation program that helps students aim for Victoria's selective high schools. We are looking for a sharp, motivating teacher or tutor to join this program.
The role
You will prepare students for the Victorian Selective Entry High School (Year 9) examination and related scholarship and selective tests. Teaching covers the exam's core areas:
- Reading comprehension
- Verbal reasoning
- Numerical reasoning and quantitative skills
- Mathematics
- Creative and persuasive writing
You will deliver structured lessons, run timed practice, and give students clear feedback that builds exam confidence. Hours are adaptable: casual/sessional or ongoing part-time, including after-school and weekend sessions.
What we are looking for
- A strong academic record and confidence across reasoning, maths and writing
- The ability to teach exam technique and timing,
not just content
- Reliability, professionalism and a warm, encouraging manner with students
- Full working rights in Australia
- A valid Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one before commencing)
Desirable (not essential)
- Experience attending a selective entry school, or sitting the selective or scholarship exams
- Familiarity with the Victorian Selective Entry exam format
- Prior tutoring or teaching experience
