The Senior Finance Business Partner provides high-level financial leadership, partnering with EGMs and business units to drive strategic decision-making, deliver robust financial analysis, and support the achievement of AAL’s objectives. This role is responsible for leading business unit financial planning, reporting, and transformation initiatives, while embedding a culture of continuous improvement and team development.

Key Accountabilities

Business Partnering

- In conjunction with the Head of Finance and CFO, contribute to the vision for business partnering at Adelaide Airport.
- Act as the primary finance counterpart to Executive General Managers, translating financial results into insight, lifting business unit financial acumen, and navigation of complex financial processes.
- Collaborating with business units to understand business unit priorities, initiatives and challenges to achieve strategic objectives
- Act as a trusted advisor to business unit leaders, providing tailored analysis and identifying business unit opportunities and risks.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and support cost control initiatives, assisting business leaders to manage short and long-term targets.
- Develop meaningful, practical and insightful reporting for business units
- Monitor P&L; financial performance against KPIs and budgets, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions to ensure effective financial management and resource allocation.
- Lead and conduct monthly meetings with executives/managers to discuss results against budget and identify key drivers.




- Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring compliance with finance policies and procedures.
- Coordinate the preparation and analysis of annual business unit budgets, forecasts, and reporting packs.
- Challenge assumptions, proposals and business cases to ensure decisions are commercially sound and aligned to long‑term objectives
- Support the Finance team and other business units with financial insights and decision support.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

- Prepare and analyse monthly business unit management accounts, KPIs, and business unit performance reports.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and reporting requirements.
- Support external audit processes through responding to auditor queries.
- Respond to Finance Manager queries as part of the month-end and year-end process.

Process Improvement

- Identify and implement opportunities to improve financial processes, and reporting.
- Lead or contribute to finance transformation projects, system upgrades, and process automation initiatives.
- Actively looking to streamline and simplify processes, reports and procedures
- Document and enhance month-end and standard operating procedures.

Leadership & Team Development

- This role does not have formal people management accountability but contributes to capability uplift through coaching and influence.
- Mentor, develop, and provide business unit specific information to the broader finance team members.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.




- Support business continuity processes and succession planning.

General

- Assist with the preparation and execution of the Finance Business Plan.
- Participate in audit processes and provide documentation as required by external and internal auditors
- Show a commitment to the performance review process by determining objectives that align to business unit and companywide goals
- Show commitment to performance review processes and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with WHS and environmental responsibilities.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience

Qualifications
Essential

- Tertiary qualifications in accounting or a related discipline

Desirable (or Highly Regarded):

- Postgraduate qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (e.g. CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand)

Experience

- Extensive experience in a diverse Business Partnering role
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with operational leaders to drive financial performance and influence strategic decision‑making.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, accounting standards, and control frameworks
- Experience with ERP systems, financial modelling tools, and advanced Excel
- Confident working with senior leadership and non-finance stakeholders
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage month-end deadlines
