As our residential portfolio continues to develop, we are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Accountant to support the financial management, reporting and strategic planning of the business.

About the Role

The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, compliance, internal controls and financial analysis across Lateral Residencies’ residential properties and business operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, property operations teams, external accountants, auditors, financial institutions and other professional advisers. The role will provide accurate financial information to support operational decisions, property investment activities and the continued growth of the residential portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist management in developing budgetary, financial and accounting policies for Lateral Residencies.
- Prepare financial statements and management reports for directors, shareholders and statutory bodies.
- Review rental income, operating costs,



property expenses and overall financial performance.
- Conduct financial investigations, support audits and prepare reports on taxation, financing, fraud, insolvency and business transactions.
- Ensure financial reports are accurate and comply with accounting, taxation and statutory requirements.
- Provide financial and taxation advice on business structures, property operations, investment plans and future growth.
- Prepare tax returns, Business Activity Statements, GST and other required taxation records.
- Liaise with banks, lenders and brokers regarding funding, refinancing and cash-management arrangements.
- Maintain and improve accounting systems, reconciliations, financial records and computer-based reporting processes.
- Maintain effective internal controls over payments, rental receipts, expenses and financial approvals.
- Prepare budgets and cash-flow forecasts and assess the financial risks and returns of property acquisitions, improvements and other capital projects.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will ideally possess:

- A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline.




- Relevant professional experience in an accounting or financial management role.
- Experience in residential property, property management, real estate, construction or asset management will be highly regarded.
- Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, taxation requirements, GST and statutory reporting obligations.
- Experience preparing financial statements, budgets, forecasts, tax returns and management reports.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial information and provide practical commercial advice.
- Experience using computer-based accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing reporting deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A high level of integrity, confidentiality and professional judgement.
